Deadly Tornado Touches Down in Perryton, Texas
At Least Three People Killed, Dozens Injured
A storm system that swept through Texas on Thursday evening killed three people and injured dozens of others.
The most significant tornado was the one that moved through Perryton Texas and led to at least three deaths and more than 50 injuries. The National Weather Service said survey teams had determined that a tornado touched down in Perryton at approximately 8:30 p.m. CDT. The tornado was on the ground for about 20 minutes and traveled a path of about 10 miles.
The tornado caused significant damage to homes and businesses in Perryton. Several buildings were completely destroyed, and others were left with major damage. The storm also caused power outages and downed trees.
In addition to the tornado in Perryton, there were several other tornadoes reported across Texas on Thursday evening. However, no other tornadoes caused any fatalities.
The storm system that spawned the tornadoes is expected to continue moving eastward across the United States over the next few days. The National Weather Service has issued tornado watches and warnings for several states, including Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
