Hoffenheim stun Bayern Munich with a 4-2 victory on Matchday 34 of the Bundesliga, leaving the Bavarians' title hopes hanging in the balance.
Bayern Munich's quest for a 10th consecutive Bundesliga title suffered a major setback on Saturday as they were stunned 4-2 by Hoffenheim in a thrilling encounter on Matchday 34. The defeat leaves Bayern three points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund with just two games remaining.
Hoffenheim took the lead after just three minutes through Andrej Kramaric, and they doubled their advantage in the 25th minute when Ihlas Bebou fired home. Bayern pulled one back through Robert Lewandowski just before half-time, but Hoffenheim restored their two-goal lead through Christoph Baumgartner in the 56th minute.
Bayern threw everything at Hoffenheim in the closing stages, but they were caught on the break in the 87th minute when Bebou scored his second goal of the game. Lewandowski pulled another goal back for Bayern in stoppage time, but it was too little too late as Hoffenheim held on for a famous victory.
The defeat leaves Bayern needing to win their remaining two games and hope that Dortmund slip up if they are to retain their Bundesliga crown. It is a tall order, but Bayern have shown time and time again that they are never out of a fight.
