Corey Perry Signs One-Year Deal with Edmonton Oilers
Veteran Forward Returns to Former Team
Perry, 36, spent seven seasons with the Oilers from 2015-2022, winning the Stanley Cup in 2017. He signed a one-year, $3.125 million contract with the club on Wednesday.
Perry has 389 goals and 436 assists in 1,049 career NHL games. He has also represented Canada at the Olympics and World Championships, winning two gold medals and one silver medal.
The Oilers are hoping that Perry can provide leadership and experience to a young team that is looking to make a playoff run. He is expected to play on the wing with Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl.
Perry's signing is a significant move for the Oilers, who are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season. They finished 27-46-9 last year and missed the playoffs.
The Oilers will open the regular season on October 12 at home against the Vancouver Canucks.
