Early Life and Career
WEB Sutherland was born on 17 July 1935 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. He began his acting career in the early 1960s, appearing in small roles in films and television shows. His breakout role came in 1967 when he starred in the war film The Dirty Dozen.
Rise to Fame
Sutherland's performance in The Dirty Dozen earned him critical acclaim and launched his career as a leading man. He went on to star in a number of successful films, including MASH (1970), Kelly's Heroes (1970), Klute (1971), and Don't Look Now (1973).
Later Career
Sutherland continued to act throughout the 1980s and 1990s, appearing in both films and television shows. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1990. In 2001, he was inducted into the Canadian Broadcast Hall of Fame.
Personal Life
Sutherland was married three times. He had three children with his first wife, Lois Hardwick, and one child with his second wife, Francine Racette. He married his third wife, Lorne Thyne, in 1989.
Death
Sutherland died on 20 June 2024 at the age of 88. He was survived by his wife, Lorne, and his four children.
